Zusammenfassung: I wish Intel will start using solder with Broadwell instead of TIM...
Pro: Achieves extremely high clocks while maintaining a cool temperature, even on the stock Intel cooler I could get it to >4.2GHz and with the old H60 up to nearly 4.7Ghz while the temperatures were below 60C, unlike the newer Ivy Bridge and Haswell chips.
Kontra: Cannot think of any and don't think I will ever think of any.
Zusammenfassung: If you've been looking for a good baseline, high-end CPU then the i5-2500K is the standard. It seems like its still used in some benchmarking because of its reliability, build quality, and how great the actual chip is. I consider this the legendary gaming CPU right now.
Pro: This chip... where to start? The i5-2500K will be relevant for a while. Great speed and reliability. Easy to install. Easy to overclock. I used this chip in my first gaming PC build, and am still using it to this day with no problems. I might be using it even a few years from now.
Kontra: Newer chipsets (Ivy Bridge and Haswell) have kinda made the i5-2500K a bit more dated. Uses the LGA 1155 socket that is currently out of date. Does NOT support PCIe 3.0.
Zusammenfassung: One of the all-time greats in CPU history. I haven't upgraded from my Sandy Bridge i5 2500k because this thing is not far behind the newest chips and just so overclockable. I mean 4.5ghz prime95 all day with minimal overvolting and 5ghz attainable while still in the safe voltage range.
Pro: Still among the fastest gaming CPU's. HIGHLY oveclockable (OC's better than newer chips in my experience) As an older part may be easier to find used.
Kontra: None at all, unless you count its new availability.
